Flood alert for Droitwich as Storm Chandra hits the UK

A FLOOD alert has been issued for the River Salwarpe, which could impact areas of Bromsgrove and Droitwich, as Storm Chandra hits the UK.

A warning on the gov.uk website has said high river levels means flooding is possible today (January 27).

Flooding may affect low lying land and roads adjacent to the river from Catshill to Hawford.

Other areas that may be affected include Stoke Heath, Stoke Prior, Elmley Lovett, Droitwich Spa and Ombersley.

A statement on the Gov.uk website said: “We are closely monitoring the situation.

“Avoid using low lying footpaths and any bridges near local watercourses.”




Storm Chandra has hit the UK, which is mostly impacting Nortrhern Ireland, although almosat 100 schools in England have closed.

No weather warning has been issued by the Met Office for Worcestershire.
