ROADS in Droitwich are to be closed overnight due to flooding.
Several roads have been shut for safety reasons following a day of torrential rain caused by the tail end of Storm Babet.
Worcestershire Highways announced in the last hour that Newland Road to Plough Lane, Briar Mill and Tagwell Lane have all been shut.
There were also reports of water levels at Shell Ford being as high as 5ft.
Earlier tonight, Hylton Road, Worcester. was shut by the Environment Agency so the flood gates by the University Arena could be closed. Vehicles are urged to use the diversion via Henwick Road. Worcestershire Highways said pedestrian and cycle access was unaffected.
Broadway Close in Worcester and Bransford Court Lane, Bransford, have also been shut.
Elsewhere, in Bromsgrove, Shaw Lane, Stoke Prior, is closed due to flooding making it impassable.
Advice to drivers
Worcestershire Highways has issued the following advice –
- Please avoid travelling where possible
- Do not enter flood water
- Do not drive through flooded roads or through fords
