Former Droitwich councillor thankful for support of residents in elections

A DROITWICH Town Councillor who lost his seat at last week’s election has thanked everyone who voted for him.

Alan Humphries represented residents in the Droitwich Central ward for the past eight years.

In a letter to the Standard, Mr Humphries said: “I’d just like to say a big thank you to everyone that voted for me in the recent district and town council elections in Droitwich South-West and Droitwich Central respectively.”

He wished the winners of those seats all the best for the next four years and added: “It was an honour to serve the Droitwich Central residents which I hope I did well.

“I will be continuing my work in the community with the Royal British Legion as Worcestershire County Chair and highlighting, where I can, the many issues that face our residents on a daily basis.

And he added he wanted to clear up any confusion surrounding the Labour candidates’ launch event at the Norbury Theatre.

“We would like to make it clear that the Norbury Theatre has no allegiance to any political party, including the Labour Party, although it may have been construed in that way from social media posts and press releases.

“The committee of the Droitwich Labour Party would like to apologise to the Norbury Theatre Council for this confusion and recognises the integral, non-partisan part it plays in the community life of Droitwich Spa.”
