AN 86-year-old residents dreams came true when he returned to Droitwich Golf Club, 20 years after winning The Jubilee Cup in 2004.
Brian Lawrence, who lives at Woodland View care home in the town took up golf when he served with the Military Police.
In 1977, he joined Droitwich Golf Club, soon becoming a devoted member and competed in several tournaments, including The Jubilee Cup every year.
Though Brian left the club in 2009, he often thinks of his days as a member and cherishes the day he won The Jubilee Cup.
Hearing of Brian’s cherished memories at Droitwich Golf Club, Woodland View’s Home Manager Lisa Dews arranged for a very special visit to the club.
During the trip, Brian enjoyed a delicious breakfast on the terrace whilst watching the golfers compete in the Shirley Jones Tournament.
He said: “It was wonderful to go back there and meet members I hadn’t seen for the last 15 years.
“I will always remember my days there.”
Iain Milroy, the club captain, presented Brian with the same trophy he had won in 2004, so that he could hold it again and take a picture.
Iain said: “It was a pleasure to have former member, legend and past trophy winner Brian Lawrence at the club today.
“Brian won many trophies including the 2004 Jubilee Cup. Brian is fondly remembered and will be welcome at the club anytime.”
