FIRE crews battled a barn blaze earlier today which involved a number of hay bales.
It broke out around 11.35am in an agricultural building in Himbleton, Droitwich, where a large number of bales were stacked along with farm machinery.
One engine from Droitwich, two from Worcester and the water carrier from Evesham attended.
The fire was ‘sectorised’ to isolate the flaming areas and stop it spreading.
Firefighters then utilised plant machinery on site to get above the blaze and used water jets to contain and put out the fire.
At 12.59pm the crews checked for ‘hot spots’ and were dampening down the area in a bid to prevent it flaring up again.
An investigation has been launched to determine the cause of the fire and West Mercia Police have been informed.
Anyone with any information should call police on 101.
