Free dog microchipping event in Droitwich proves succesful

A FREE dog microchipping event in Droitwich has helped pet owners be prepared for if their pooch goes missing.

To help dog owners follow the law, Worcestershire County Council has organised a host of free sessions.

It is a legal requirement to have your dog microchipped, but many don’t for a variety of reasons.

Today (Thursday, July 17) a session was held at Lido Park in Droitwich. A previous session was also held at Abbey Park in Pershore on July 9.

Worcestershire Regulatory Services’ senior dog warden, Pip Singleton, said: “Reuniting lost dogs with their owners is always a joy, and having up to date microchips makes it so much easier to do.

“An opportunity to have your dog microchipped for free is certainly something to make use of.

“It’s also a good reminder to residents to make sure that any existing microchips their pets have are accurate and up to date.”

There are a couple more sessions coming up across Worcestershire for dog owners who couldn’t make the previous openings.

On Wednesday, September 10 a session will be held at Crown Meadow, Evesham. And lastly, on Thursday, September 18 a session will be held at Victoria Park, Malvern. Both events take place from 10.30am to 1.30pm.

Microchips are being offered for free, in a no judgement no questions asked environment. It represents a great opportunity for residents to get this done to help reduce the risk of lost dogs not being reunited with owners.

Booking is not required at the sessions.
