MORE THAN 3,000 people descended on Droitwich for this year’s Friar Fest which was bigger and better than ever before.

The event, organised by Stuart Wilcox and Graham Leonard – landlords of The Old Cock Inn, saw Friar Street come alive with music, food and drink.

There were 11 acts on the main stage and another seven acts on an indoor stage.

When headliners Toploader took to the stage at 8pm, the street was packed from one end to the other.

BBC Hereford and Worcester broadcast a show live from the festival from 5pm to 6pm, interviewing Stuart, along with acts the Delray Rockets, Nicki French and Toploader.

Stuart said: “It was an amazing day made possible by all those who worked so hard on the run up to the day and on the day itself.

“We want to say a huge thank you to all the sponsors who financially and physically supported the day, the bar team who worked non stop all day and special thanks to Production Support Services for their excellent sound and lighting, to Nick Jones for managing the Live Room and to Brian and Katherine Hooper for stage managing and support throughout the set up, during and after the event.”

Graham added: “We also want to say a big thank you to everyone who came down to support the event, truly making it a day to remember.”

And Toploader guitarist Dan Hipgrave said: “We thought it was a great event, well done for putting in all the hard work.”
