A NEW fund-raising group has been launched for Droitwich’s ex-servicemen and women.
Pathway #4 Our Veterans was started by former army members John O’Rourke, Adrian Wright and Tony Hall to provide activities and social events for fellow ex-personnel who live in the Spa.
John, who served in the Irish Guards, said: “Within the area, there is not a lot of things going on for people who are in home care.
“Some of the people are stuck in their accomodation and don’t get to go out.
“We are looking, through the group, to taking them out for the day, such as on boat trips or a place of their choice.
“They might want to meet up with their friends in other parts of the country.
“Or it may be they have not seen some of their mates for years – we want to reunite them.”
He added the trio wanted ex-servicemen to be able to meet up with others who had been through the same experiences as themselves and to be able to talk about those times.
Droitwich Town Council has assisted John, Adrian and Tony in setting up the group.
“We want to say a big thank you to Pam Craney and Mark Keld for the help they have given.” added John.
The first fund-raiser will be a 20-mile walk on May 23 from the Working Men’s Club in Droitwich to the Nautical Club in Birmingham.
John urged any ex-servicemen who wanted to take part in future events or wanted to find out more about the group and how they could be part of it to e-mail him at [email protected] or call him on 07436 015474.
