THE TOWN Councillor responsible for the economy and housing at Wychavon has spoken about how the ‘brine flowing again’ will help the vision and goals of the Droitwich Spa Brine Heritage Group.
Coun Richard Morris said the organisation, tasked with developing a strategy for elevating the Spa’s brine heritage, is hopeful – pending positive tests – that some Droitwich salted products will be able to be developed with the help of local companies.
He praised Coun Bob Brookes, with his engineering background, for playing a key role in ensuring the brine could be accessed and Wychavon District Council and the Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) for funding the tapping and testing, which is the next stage of the process.
The Brine Heritage Group covers several areas, including consumption, wellness (including the Brine Baths and Lido), heritage and brand.
Coun Morris, who is the chairman of the group, said: “The brine tap and brine flow is a major step in supporting the goals of the Brine Heritage Group and we hope that this can result soon in some locally produced salted products.
“We should also thank Wychavon District Council for their support in this.”
