Gilbert and Sullivan's Gondoliers heading for the Norbury

Droitwich Editorial 7th Jun, 2015 Updated: 17th Oct, 2016   0

A PRODUCTION of Gilbert and Sullivan’s classic The Gondoliers will be staged at Drotiwich’s Norbury Theatre next Friday and Saturday (June 12 and 13).

The show – being put on by The Worcester Gilbert and Sullivan Society – is set in Venice and centres on two gondoliers who are plying their trade.

One of them, however, is not as they seem and all manner of confusions arise.

Mary, Queen of Floods (otherwise known as Mary Dhonau) is playing the Duchess, a most formidable character.

She said: “The show is so much fun with gondolas, mistaken identities and amazing costumes.

“I am excited to be playing such a redoubtable lady but also to be able to bring in hints of my own work highlighting the risks of flooding – rather a good fit with the setting of Venice.”

Visit www.gasworcs.com to find out more information or go to www.norburytheatre.co.uk or call 01905 770154.

Performances start at 7.30pm and tickets are £12 (£6 concessions).
