Go Green - How to recycle your tree with St Richard's Hospice

Droitwich Editorial 30th Dec, 2022   0

PLATFORM Housing Association is supporting St Richard’s Hospice Christmas tree collection initiative by offering services.

The social landlord will be providing two chippers – from Travis Perkins and Global Sales – as well as colleagues volunteering at the tree drop-off area.

Simon Harris, Service Manager at Platform Housing Group said: “Supporting community initiatives such as the hospice’s Christmas tree collection campaign is really important to us.

“It’s fabulous to be involved in assisting the hospice in raising such vital funds for their work. We’d like to encourage as many people as possible to join up and get involved.”

The campaign is now in its seventh year, with Platform Property Care – then Fortis Living – having been involved since the start.

Last year, £46,500 was raised by supporters, and 2,160 trees were collected and chipped.

Ria Simons, Corporate Fundraiser at St Richard’s Hospice, said: “Each year our Christmas tree collection campaign raises thousands to help us fund our free care to patients and their loved ones.

“We couldn’t achieve this without the kind support of volunteers like the team from Platform Property Care and our community who donate so generously.

“Thank you to Platform Property Care – and all those involved in helping make this campaign a success for our care.”

On Sunday and Monday, January 8 and 9, Platform Housing volunteers and St Richard Hospice will be at The Countryside Centre to recycle the trees.

Those wishing to take part to register their tree online and – if they choose to – make a donation to the hospice by 11.00pm on January 3.

This year collections will take place in all WR postcodes throughout the county.
