Hanbury First School alive with the sound of music after donations

PUPILS and staff from Hanbury First School have been singing the praise of kind donors who have given the school a piano, writes Ashton Price.

When Heronswood Primary School in Kidderminster replaced its old piano, staff there wanted it to go to a good home where it could continue to provide hours of entertainment and Hanbury was that destination.

Lynn Ball, Hanbury First School’s music co-ordinator said she was delighted and thanked Carl at Bromsgrove Van Hire who helped with its arrival.

“We are very proud with the way we work with groups and schools within our local community” she said.

Meanwhile, Droitwich Ukulele Club has kindly donated a number of different percussion instruments to the school – a perfect match for Mrs Ball.

The arrival of the piano assisted 40 pupils who competed in the Young Voices competition, singing along with hundreds of other children to provide a day-long extravaganza.

The Hanbury school is also investing in more instruments since the recent donation by Hanbury Parochial Charity.

“We are extremely grateful for the generosity of everyone who has helped us, as music is such an important part of the curriculum.” Mrs Ball added.
