A WELLBEING week at Hanbury First School has focused on fitness and ways pupils can keep their minds and bodies healthy.
Children have explored their emotions in themselves and their friends and what they can do to help and support others.

A host of activities proposed by year four, including walking up hills, over stiles and to church, along with hot chocolate and sausage sandwiches, proved a hit with the whole school.
Lavender bags, stress balls and tasty treats have been created, affirmation mirrors and inner/outer self artwork has been made and a ‘dress to express’ and ‘pyjama day’ was held to give the pupils more chance to show the world who they are and what makes them feel comfy and cosy.
Classes designed hot air balloons, putting themselves in the basket and surrounding it with names of everyone who gives them a lift and they participated in ‘Ninja Yoga’ sessions to stretch their bodies and relax their minds.

The week ended with a visit from Merlin the Sprocker, who reminded everyone it was not just people who produce feelings of happiness and calmness.
He visited the classrooms and was so well-behaved he was this week’s winner of the headteacher’s award.
The school’s Wellbeing Crew – a team of Year three and four pupils who promote healthy minds among their schoolmates throughout the year – produced a video to highlight Wellbeing Week and organised a healthy snack competition.
A very thorough taste testing session proved difficult for the judges but in the end Martha and Nora took the title with George, Henry, Joseph and Mrs Harper runners-up.
Miss Bishop, Hanbury’s mental health lead and special educational needs co-ordinator, said: “It is essential for everyone to have a strong sense of self.
“Our wish is for children to be emotionally literate and resilient as they grow.
“This week we have equipped the children with a few tools to help them cope with the challenges of life but that won’t stop here – we’ll maintain this kind of support throughout their time at Hanbury.”
