Hanbury Hall to take visitors back to Christmases from the 1970s and 1980s

HANBURY Hall is turning back the clock to the 1970s and 80s this Yuletide and needs residents’ help to make it happen.

The historic National Trust property wants people to loan their toys from those decades for a special nostalgic display.

The organisers are hoping for vintage and retro items, especially the ‘must-have’ toys such as Etch-a-Sketch, Cabbage Patch Kids, Action Man, Rubik’s Cube Chopper bikes and early computers.

People can also share memories of getting the toys and photographs they have with the toys when they were new.

The collection will be on show from Saturday, December 2, until December 23.

The hall will be dressed for a Christmas party from the 1970s and 1980s, complete with tinsel, Babycham, games of Twister and former Christmas number ones playing in the background.

Toys and other items would need to be at the house for the end of November and will be

returned in the new year after the event has come to an end.

“Christmas is all about fun, food, presents and spending time with your family.

“Hanbury has always been a party house, so we wanted to capture some of that party spirit for all our visitors

this year,” said Carrie-Anne Kerr, Hanbury’s visitor experience officer.
