Hanbury speed advisory signs outside primary school fixed

SPEED advisory signs have been fixed outside a primary school in Hanbury.

The signs were installed last year to address the speeding problems in the village but have since broken.

After raising the issue with Redditch MP Rachel Maclean, the signs were repaired.

Mrs Maclean said thanked Coun Mike Rouse, Coun Tony Miller and Worcestershire County Council officers for their work in getting the signs back working again.

“We need to improve road safety outside Hanbury C of E First School and I hope the speed advisory signs will help to achieve this.”

Coun Mike Rouse, cabinet member with responsibility for highways at Worcestershire County Council, said he was grateful to Mrs Maclean and Coun Miller for highlighting their concerns.

“As part of Worcestershire County Council’s commitment to improving safety outside schools we were able to implement a 20mph advisory limit.

“I am pleased to hear the signage and equipment is now all in place and operational.”

Coun Miller, county councillor for Hanbury, added: “Anyone using the road to Hanbury C of E First School cannot mistake the new signage, speed limit and flashing warning signs which have been installed.”

He thanked the officers for their work but added more needed to be done to make the area safe for parents and schoolchildren.

“I would remind parents dropping off and picking up children from this location to park in a careful and courteous manner with regard to other road users. As drivers we must modify our behaviour to suit the conditions of these narrow roads.”
