Have your say on key future Droitwich town projects at meeting

Droitwich Editorial 2nd Mar, 2023   0

A RALLYING call has been made to have your say on key community projects which will help shape the future of Droitwich.

There will be three events at the Community Hall to give people the chance to learn more about the council’s work.

Information will be shared about the Neighbourhood Development Plan (NDP) project – a land use scheme aimed at shaping and determining future developments and how to better influence community priorities.

The project’s vision target period is until 2041, which lines up with the South Worcestershire Development Plan.

The document will set out suitable planning policies, such as town centre regeneration, and it will encourage and identify other community-led projects.

The events are on Monday, March 13 between 3pm and 6pm.

At 4.30pm there will be a presentation and a question-and-answer session explaining the role of the plan, what it can and cannot cover and how the town council is preparing for it.

Alternatively, you can share your view in an online survey at droitwichspa.gov.uk until March 31.

At 6pm there will be another presentation on tourism, the Heritage Centre and Museum.

This talk is by the town council heritage managers’ team and will include updates on the Museum Centre, the volunteer team, forward plans and exhibitions, digital media and tourism details.

Then at 6.30pm the annual town meeting will offer people the chance to hear more about the town council’s work over the last year as well as its future plans.

There will be annual reports from Mayor of Droitwich Spa, Coun George Duffy, the chairmen of the council’s respective planning, community and amenities and resources committees, concluding with a question-and-answer session.

Representatives from Wychavon District Council, Worcestershire County Council and the Droitwich Police Safer Neighbourhood Team should also be in attendance.

Coun Duffy said: “We’re looking forward to hearing from residents so that the NDP can be drawn up to help deliver on people’s priorities for living in our town.”
