A REVIEW of buildings used for voting is being carried out by Wychavon and residents can have their say.
The Wychavon Polling Places and Districts Review will examine more than 80 locations currently used during elections to allow people to cast their vote.
Residents can make comments on the suitability of a polling place, commonly referred to as a polling station, including issues such as parking and accessibility. They can also suggest alternative venues.
Comments can also be made on the make-up of polling districts. Polling districts are small areas of electoral wards which are used to decide where people go to vote.
There are several polling districts inside each electoral ward, which are larger areas used to decide which councillor is elected.
If a resident believes it would be more convenient for a particular neighbourhood or community to be moved into a different polling district, they can suggest changes, as long as it is within the same electoral ward.
People can use the online postcode checker on Wychavon’s website to find out which electoral ward and polling district they are in, as well as view a list of polling stations currently used.
The consultation runs until October 18, 2024.
Vic Allison, Wychavon’s chief executive and acting returning officer at elections, said: “We want to make it as easy as possible for people to cast their vote at election time.
“That’s why we regularly review our polling places and districts to make sure they are still suitable and the best option for voters.
“We’re interested in people’s experience of using our current polling places, particularly those with disabilities, and any suggestions they may have for alternative venues so please get involved in the consultation.”
