Highways England bosses claim the end of M5 roadworks between Droitwich and Worcester will be 'very soon'

BOSSES at Highways England have moved to reassure users of the M5 motorway that the end of the smart motorway roadworks was in sight.

Experts say the four-lane smart motorway will improve journeys by adding capacity, reducing congestion and making the route more reliable.

Work began in January last year and the given completion time for the project was ‘spring 2017’ but, now we are in May, we have been contacted by many angry drivers asking when that would be.

Speaking to The Standard yesterday a spokesperson for Highways England said the section between Bromsgrove and Droitwich was now complete and the one between Droitwich and Worcester would be completed ‘very soon’.

Overnight closures to all lanes between Junctions 5 and 6 will take place between 8pm and 6am until May 21. After that they will be from 9pm to 6am until May 31.
