HIMBLETON CE First School has received a grant of £10k to build a special outdoor classroom for children to learn through outdoor play.
The cash from the Big Lottery Fund will fund doors and a canopy to improve the ‘flow through from inside to outside’.
The plans come after a previous Ofsted report flagged up the need for continuous provision of the children.
Headteacher Janine Burton said: “We have got an outside play garden for our early years children but there isn’t a flow through from the classroom.
“The ‘outdoor classroom’ will be safe and will allow us to see the children in both areas.
“It is really exciting, the children will be able to learn through play.”
The work is set to be finished at the end of the summer.
