YOUNGSTERS from Himbleton First School and Nursery tried out tag rugby when England and Worcester Warriors fullback Chris Pennell visited the school.
Children up to year four had an energetic and fun-filled afternoon to raise awareness and funds for the Grace Kelly Ladybird Trust, Acorns Children’s Hospice and Diabetes UK, Chris’ three chosen charities in his testimonial year.
Chris said he was keen to find some budding rugby players for the future.
“The setting is beautiful and the facilities here really lend themselves to outdoor learning.
“The children were keen to get involved and some have tried something completely new which is great.”
The school’s lead teacher Suzanne Wallis said they were pleased with the visit.
“It was great to see the children get expert tuition from such a great local role model.
“We are a small but popular village school with children attending from the local area, Droitwich and Worcester and we try and give back whenever we can.
“Supporting such worthy charities has been a pleasure.”
An open morning is being held at Himbleton First School between 9.30am and midday this Thursday, October 25.
