THERE will be a historic moment at the Chateau Impney on Thursday, April 26, when The Band of HM Royal Marines performs at a charity event to raise funds for the Stoke Prior Tower Appeal.

It is believed it will be the first time the band has ever performed in Bromsgrove and Droitwich.

The evening will commence at 7.30pm with the National Anthem, followed by several numbers.

The band will be supported by the Alcester Male Voice Choir which will perform a number of well-known songs, such as I Dreamed a Dream, Bring Him Home, the Dambusters march, Can’t Help Falling in Love and the Star Wars theme.

After the interval more fine music will be played, including favourites such as Rule Britannia and Land of Hope and Glory.

Here is the full programme.

The 1,000-capacity event takes place between 7.30pm and 10pm with tickets (unreserved seating) at £35 available from Christine Huzzey at [email protected] or by calling 01527 831706. There will be a ticket kiosk available on the night.

The campaign, being undertaken by the Friends of Stoke Prior Church, is striving to raise £250,000 to restore the historic building to its former glory.

The Grade I listed 12th century church, renovated by Salt King John Corbett in the 19th century, has suffered structural damage with the tower falling into a particularly dangerous state.

It began in 2015 and more than £60,000 has already been collected.
