MORE THAN 300 people took part in St Richard Hospice’s seventh annual Waterways Walk last Sunday (August 7), writes Ed Gwilliam.

The event, sponsored by Droitwich Spa Marina, received the largest number of registrations in six years.

Walkers were offered a choice of three distances with most walkers tackling the 21-mile circular route which started and finished at Droitwich Spa Marina.

A total of 85 participants took on the 11-mile walk from the Marina to Diglis and 73 walked a family friendly six-mile circular route from Perdiswell.

It is hoped the event will raise in the region of £20,000.

Alison Parkes, senior fund-raiser for St Richard’s Hospice, said: “With wonderful weather, fantastic walkers and a team of 25 plus great volunteers the day was set for everyone to enjoy the wonderful waterways of Worcestershire.“
