HEART of Worcestershire College has been awarded a £1.17million funding boost to revitalise further education and equip young people with the skills they need for the future.
The investment, awarded through the FE College Condition Allocation (FECCA), will see a significant portion directed to the Redditch campus.
Funds will upgrade digital connectivity and accelerate the college’s transition to net-zero infrastructure, ensuring students learn in modern, sustainable environments.
This funding is part of a £307 million national package to repair and modernise college buildings, addressing years of neglect and supporting the Prime Minister’s ambition for two-thirds of young people to access high-quality apprenticeships or university education by age 25.
Redditch MP Chris Bloore has welcomed the funding.
He said: “This investment is about more than bricks and mortar – it’s about investing in the future of Redditch. For too long, our further education system has been overlooked, leaving students and staff to make do with outdated facilities.
“This funding will support targeted improvements at the Redditch campus, helping to ensure young people have the tools and environment they need to thrive in a modern economy.
“I want every student in the town to walk into a college they can be proud of. One that reflects their potential and prepares them for the careers of tomorrow.”
Michelle Dowse, Principal and Chief Executive of Heart of Worcestershire College, added: “We are delighted to receive this funding. Our Redditch campus is already a place that students value and this investment allows us to build on that strong foundation.
“By strengthening our digital systems and accelerating progress on sustainability, we will continue to create an environment where every learner feels supported, motivated and well prepared for the future.”
