How Droitwich will be remembering The Late Queen Elizabeth II

DROITWICH Spa Town Council has announced what it will be doing to remember The Late Queen Elizabeth II.

Paying tribute, Mayor of Droitwich Spa – representing the town council, elected members and all residents, said: “We express our deep sadness on hearing the announcement of the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II yesterday.”

The flag outside St Richards House is being flown at half-mast and a Book of Condolence has been opened in the Council Chamber.

People can sign the book from 10am to 4pm, Monday to Friday and in between 10am and 1.30pm on Saturday.




Flowers and tributes can be presented and placed in the front garden of St Richards House next to the flag pole.


The town council added the wishes of the Royal Family were the foremost consideration at this difficult time and it was expected more would be known from Buckingham Palace shortly.

As a mark of respect, the scheduled Town Council Committee meetings which were due to take place on September 12 have been postponed and will take place at the meeting of the full council due to take place at 6pm on September 26.

The National arrangements for Proclamation Day are now confirmed.

The ceremony for Reading the Proclamation in Droitwich Spa will take place in the garden outside St Richards House – this is arranged for Sunday September 11, at 4.30pm.

 

St Andrew’s Church

St Andrew’s Church is open today from 10am to 6pm for private prayer and reflection.

Candles will be available to be lit.

A shared time of prayer will take place at 4pm.

The church will be open as much as possible over the coming days.

 

St Augustine’s Church – Tenor bell tolled 96 times

Earlier today – at midday, the Tenor bell at St Augustine’s Church, Dodderhill, was tolled 96 times.

The bell was half-muffled, meaning that the sound alternated between quiet and loud, representing the death and the resurrection.

A spokesperson for the Saltway Team Ministry said: “May she rest in peace and rise in glory.”
