DROITWICH got in the festive spirit last weekend with the annual Christmas lights switch-on.

Hundreds turned out for the annual switch-on as well as a day full of entertainment at St Andrew’s Shopping Centre.

Entertainment included performances from The Salvation Army Band, The Star Project, the Sing Choir and the Westacre Middle School choir.

The Norbury Theatre also treated people to a performance of their panto, Jack and the Beanstalk.

And people were treated to dance performances from SB Danceworks and the ENTW9 dance academy.

Youngsters were able to visit Santa’s Grotto, which was based in the Heritage Centre, and there were fairground rides and market stalls in Victoria Square all afternoon.

The day culminated with the countdown and switch on at 6pm, which was carried out by the Mayor, Coun Chris Bowden, and Father Christmas himself.

Coun Dan Birch, who was at the event, said: “Christmas is here in Droitwich Spa.

“It was another great Christmas light switch-on.

“Thank you to everyone involved in organising, and of course to everyone in Droitwich for coming out and showing what our community is made of.”
