AN ILLUSTRATED talk on Stourbridge Glass will take place at 7.30pm on Wednesday (November 4) in the John Corbett Room of Droitwich Community Hall, Heritage Way.
It will be given by guest speaker Richard Hajdamach who will talk about how glass has been manufactured in Stourbridge after reputedly being started in the 17th Century by French glass makers from Lorraine.
They were attracted to Worcestershire by the rich natural resources of coal and fireclay for lining furnaces, making it the perfect location for the industry.
Stourbridge glass is recognised as being among the finest in the world and has even being used on numerous occasions as gifts from royalty to visiting foreign dignitaries.
Admission to the event, which has been organised by the Droitwich History and Archaeology Society, is £2 for friends and £4 for visitors.
