IN PICTURES - Droitwich Spa Food and Drink Festival pulling in the crowds

HUNDREDS of people have already flocked to the Droitwich Spa Food and Drinks Festival.

There are plenty of tasty treats and delicious delicacies on offer with more than 100 stalls – mostly local – filling the Lido Park.

The event began yesterday (Friday) but was officially opened this morning by MP Nigel Huddleston will be joined by Droitwich Mayor Coun Kate Fellows and Wychavon district council chair Coun Robert Raphael at 10am for the official opening at the lido park bandstand.

The bandstand is hosting numerous acts and there is a main stage further into the park where blues and light rock band ‘the ferrets’ and jazz, fusion and funk group ‘Loz Ruston quartet’ are be among those performing over the weekend.

Other attractions include a fun fair and inflatables for youngsters to enjoy as well as face painting, balloon modelling, a glitter bar and a bubble factory.

And there are the Pirates Of The Caribbean and Alice in Wonderland escape rooms available for families to try together.




Mark and Helen Hawkins were joined by Helen’s mum Kathy Hancock who was visiting from Boston in Lincolnshire.

Helen said: “The festival is really good – perfect for the summertime.”


Kathy added: “It’s marvellous to be here.”

Richard Taylor said: “I live by the park so it’s handy for me – I think it’s a fantastic local event.

“It’s great for the town.”

Liz Gerrett from Churchfields was there with some Droitwich Salt and other products.

“We do lots of these events all over the country – it’s nice to be at our home town event and selling Droitwich Salt to the local community.”

The festival runs until 10pm tonight (Saturday) and until 5pm tomorrow (Sunday).
