Jacob, five, ends his 31 Miles in August challenge in Droitwich to raise more than £600 for Birmingham Children's Hospital

A KIND-HEARTED Bromsgrove boy has raised more than £620 for the Birmingham Children’s Hospital (BCH) Charity to say thank you for the care and treatment the BCH provided for his little sister Bee.

Jacob, who is five years old, wanted to do something to help raise funds and decided to undertake the ’31 miles in August’ challenge.

He has made sure he has done, on average, at least 31 miles throughout last month in a variety of ways, including walking, running, cycling and scooting.

Bee has spent a good part of her first year under the care of multiple departments at Birmingham Children’s Hospital and will be continuing to do so for the foreseeable.

The family said on his fundraising page: “Jacob absolutely adores his little sister and he is her number one fan.

“Sports is not his usual choice of activity so he has really pushed himself.”

He originally wanted to raise £100 but has now managed six times that.

On the final day of his challenge, he walked from Wychbold to Droitwich – 3.1miles dressed as a dinosaur.

As he did, he received support from drivers who beeped their horns as they passed by.

Jacob, Phoebe and their parents want to say a massive thank you to everyone who has donated to the page.

The Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity believes there is always more it can do for sick patients in the BCH’s care and their families.

Its mission to raise the vital funds needed to make a real difference to all those which use the hospital.

It says: “Your support empowers us to take innovative approaches to treating some of the sickest children in the UK.

“Your fundraising enables us to make our hospital feel just like home.

“Your donations are helping us to find new ways to treat and cure childhood diseases.”
