Joy as work to replace Droitwich's Norbury Theatre roof gets under way

Droitwich Editorial 18th Apr, 2019   0

WORK started this week to replace the roof of the Norbury Theatre following its successful funding campaign.

The urgent ‘Raise the Roof’ drive was launched in September as the leaking roof desperately needed fixing.

Funding has come from a substantial New Homes Bonus grant, along with generous donations from Droitwich people, theatre members and local groups.

Norbury chairman Anne Lane said: “We would like to thank everyone for their generosity, however, we are carrying on the fund-raising as we have another roof which will also need replacing soon.”

Coun Alan Humphries, who is a member of the theatre and helped Anne fill out the application forms, said: “The work really needed doing and it was great to help get the New Homes Bonus cash.

“The Norbury Theatre brought me to Droitwich in the first place so it’s nice to give something back.

“The theatre doesn’t ask for much from the community but offers so much.”
