Kelly to take on 'virtual London Marathon' in Droitwich for Children With Cancer UK

A FITNESS instructor who has seen her hopes of running the London Marathon dashed twice because of Coronavirus restrictions will take on the 26.2mile distance on Sunday, October 4, around Droitwich and Worcester.

Kelly Tidbury was due to run the original race in April before it was postponed so completed the same length run on a treadmill.

She was relishing the rescheduled London Marathon this Sunday but now that has been delayed until next year she will run it locally.

Kelly, who has so far raised almost £3,500 for Children With Cancer UK, will run the full marathon distance and there will be 14 other runners joining her for different parts of the course.

Among them will be Kelly’s Home From Home Fitness Running Club’s youngest member – 14-year-old Emma Durose, taking on her first half-marathon.

There will only ever be six people running together to adhere to social distancing rules.

Kelly said: “The route will include lanes along Station Road and the Newland area so we are hoping drivers will beep their horns in support if they see us.”
