KNITTERS from Droitwich and Bromsgrove are being urged to take their needles along to Hobbycraft in Wychbold tomorrow (Saturday) to help the Big Issue Foundation assist vulnerable people this winter.
The ‘Big Knitathon’ session will be held at the store at Webbs garden centre between 11am and 3pm.
At tomorrow’s event, there will be completed knitted items for people to take home for a donation to the foundation, the fund-raising arm of the Big Issue.
There will also be a bake sale to boost coffers further.
The Big Issue Foundation provides specialist tailor-made support so Big Issue vendors can move away from life on the streets.
Store manager, Paula Fox, said: “All knitters, whether beginner or advanced, are welcome to join and help us knit up a storm this Saturday.
“Proceeds will support Big Issue vendors in taking positive steps forwards in their journeys away from the streets.”
Residents can also hold their own ‘Big Knitathon’ events.
Visit https://www.bigissue.org.uk/event/big-knitathon to find out more and register.
Registration costs £5 and, in return, those signing up will be sent knitting patterns, balloons to decorate their event, a collection box, sponsor form and t-shirts to promote their event.
