Droitwich Editorial 28th Feb, 2018   0

THE LATEST talk organised by the Historic Droitwich and Dodderhill Research Group will take place at 10am next Saturday, March 10.

The Star Yard Story: Uncovering an early Tudor Building at 15 to 17 High Street – a visual journey back in time will be given by Lyn Blewitt.

Lyn, who led the Heritage Lottery Funded scheme, previously known as the Dodderhill Parish Survey Project, from 2013 to 2017, will provide a Powerpoint presentation on the information uncovered during the restoration work.

Among it is documentary research, scientific investigation and professional surveying of this historic building.

The presentation will also explain how the detailed story of this iconic building’s origins and evolution was gathered together by the various skills of volunteer documentary researchers and transcribers, the building historian, dendrochronologists, painting conservators and even a fire service specialist.

It was all done with the full co-operation and hard work of the building’s owner Andrew Brooker-Carey.

Admission to the event at the Olive Branch Community Centre (behind Droitwich Spa Baptist Church between Ombersley Street East and Winnett’s Lane) is £1.
