MORE THAN 30 firefighters from across the county battled a massive blaze which devastated a property in Droitwich in the early hours of this morning (Tuesday).
The fire broke out at the three-storey terraced building on Meadow Road, on the Westlands Estate, just after 1am.
Two crews from Worcester, two from Droitwich, one from the Wyre Forest and one from Bromsgrove were sent to the scene, along with the aerial ladder platform – also from Worcester.
National Grid attended and gas and electricity to the property was isolated while the fire was fought with three hose reel jets and two main jets used.
Crews searched the premises and, fortunately, all people were accounted for and there were no casualties.
After extinguishing the fire, a reinspection of the property was carried out at 7.47am to ensure there were no hotspots the fire could reignite from.
The final crew – from Worcester Fire Station – left the scene at 9.12am after another inspection for hotspots in the property and the neighbouring ones.
West Mercia Police and West Midlands Ambulance Service also attended.
A West Mercia Police spokesperson said officers were called around 1.20am to Meadow Road.
“Enquiries into how the fire started are ongoing.
No one was inside of the property at the time of the fire.”
The cause of the fire is currently unknown and an investigation is expected to take place to ascertain further details.
