A QUANTITY of drugs believed to be cocaine and £620 cash have been seized by police officers in Droitwich.

It happened on Friday (April 21) during a plain-clothed operation targeting suspect drug dealers.

Following information received from members of the public, officers carried out a search of a 42-year-old man in the Pillar of Salt pub, Celvestune Way, about 9pm.

Officers seized the drugs and cash and the man was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply a class A drug.

PC Rich Rees, from Droitwich’s Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “A new tasking team has been set up in Droitwich, they will work with the Safer Neighbourhood Team to specifically target priority offenders and individuals who cause people in the town the most harm.

“There will be further operations like this in the future.

“This arrest was made as a direct result of information received from the public.

“Information can be passed to the police anonymously and, having this new tasking team gives us better capacity to quickly act on that information.”

The investigations are ongoing and anyone with any information on drug-dealing in the town is urged to call Droitwich Police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

PC Rees also urged residents in Droitwich and the surrounding area to follow the Droitwich Neighbourhood Watch Facebook page.

“It’s a simple way for the community to receive and share important information about what is going on in the town as they scroll through their friends updates.

“The Neighbourhood Watch post appeals on behalf of the police and provides information on crime and crime prevention advise specifically relating to the town and the surrounding villages.

“You can also find out what the police in your town have been dealing with.”
