Man knocked unconscious in vicious Droitwich street robbery

A MAN was hit over the head and knocked unconscious during a street robbery in Droitwich last night (Thursday).

The incident happened about 11.50pm on Meadow Walk when a 32-year-old was walking towards the Westlands from the town centre.

He was approached by a gang of five men who were all in their late teens or early 20s.

One asked the victim for a pound coin and, after giving it to them, they asked him for another one and again he obliged.

As the victim continued on his way along Meadow Walk he realised he was being followed by the group.

He was then struck on the back of the head and left unconscious for a brief moment.

When he came round, a fight then broke out between him and a group and it is thought a number of them will have injuries from the fracas.

Witnesses or anyone with any information should call PC Simon Timbrell on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
