Man taken to hospital after blaze involving a vehicle and five acres of dried grass in Droitwich

A MAN has been taken to hospital after a large vehicle involving a vehicle and five acres of dried grass in Droitwich.

The incident happened on land off Doverdale Lane at 12.30pm this afternoon.

A number of crews attended including Droitwich, Worcester, Bewdley and Evesham.

Four vehicles attended including a pump, an Ultra Heavy Rescue Pump, a land rover, and a water carrier.




Firefighters used water jets, multiple beaters and a high pressure lance to extinguish the blaze.

They then checked hot spots with a thermal imaging camera.


One ambulance was sent to the scene and the man was already receiving oxygen from firefighters when the paramedics got there.

He was treated for smoke inhalation before being taken to Redditch’s Alexandra Hospital.
