THE NEW Witton Post Office is now open after an official launch by Mayor of Droitwich Spa Coun Bill Moy.

The modern-open plan counter is in the Nisa Local, Oakland Avenue and, after being taken on by Siv Sivaharan and Anthony Subaharan, will be open for 33 more hours-a-week than the last branch.

Coun Moy, who himself is a customer at the store and cut the ribbon on Saturday, said he was delighted to perform the opening.

“I want to congratulate Siv and Anthony for taking on Witton Post Office which is vital to this community.”

Richard Hall, Post Office public affairs manager, said it was great news the Post Office had been safeguarded for the area and the longer hours would make it even more convenient for local people.

“We know how important these services are to local residents.

“We are confident this vibrant new-style Post Office at the heart of the local community will meet customer needs.”

The Post Office offers a variety of services as well as posting letters and parcels.

People can withdraw cash, collect their mail and do their banking.

Siv said: “The community was really pleased we added the Post Office.

“Most of the Post Office customers were already our customers and they really wanted us to take on the Post Office as it is far more convenient for them.”

And Anthony added: “There is also much better parking than where it was before.”
