A MAYORAL civic service with a twist happened at the Droitwich Spa Lido last Sunday, October 23.
Mayor, George Duffy, had decided to move away from the traditional setting of a church for his civic service and instead host it in a park to be more inclusive.
“I am not a religious man myself, and I wanted to hold it somewhere with more civic meaning to me,” he said. “I have lived in Droitwich all my life, and I love the outdoors – the lido is the gem of our community.”
During the service, the Salvation Army band played, George read a poem and refreshments were provided by the Lido Cafe.
