MettaBox CrossFit Droitwich to hold charity workouts for Clic Sargent

Droitwich Editorial 21st Sep, 2018   0

AN ENERGETIC event will be held at MettaBox CrossFit Droitwich gym tomorrow (Saturday) to raise funds for children’s cancer charity Clic Sargent.

At 9.30am a group of youngsters will have an hour to row 60 miles – the average distance children with cancer have to travel for their treatment.

From 11am adults will be undertaking a ‘WAD’ – Workout for the Day inspired by Alfie Reed who, after his own childhood cancer battle, got in to CrossFit.

His WAD is themed on the numbers 5.5.2013 – the day he completed his treatment.

September is also Children’s Cancer Awareness Month.

CrossFit kids’ coach Laura Jeffreys said: “We are hoping as many people as possible come down and join us to raise funds for and awareness of this very worthy cause that’s close to our hearts.”

CrossFit is aimed at providing ‘functional fitness’ and combines weight-lifting, gymnsatics and cardiovascular exercise, such as running and rowing, to provide an all-round work-out.
