MID WORCESTERSHIRE MP Nigel Huddleston was one of a number of members of Parliament to take part in a charity event to help the people of Syria.

The Singing for Syrians 2016 concert took place at St Margaret’s Church in Westminster to fund medical teams on the ground in Aleppo and for prosthetic limb clinics in all regions of Syria.

Last year, £90,000 was raised with the support of match-funding from the Department for International Development, but it is currently estimated that more than 50,000 Syrians are amputees and in urgent need of treatment.

Mr Huddleston said: “Paying for the salaries of the brave medical staff who risk everything to provide life-saving treatment is one way that we can make a real difference to the victims of this terrible crises.

“I would encourage everyone in Mid Worcester to get involved as much or as little as they can.”

He added residents could do a number of things to raise cash, such as collecting money by passing buckets around or by organising fund-raising events.
