A DROITWICH plastics firm welcomed Mid Worcestershire MP Nigel Huddleston who visited to see how it had coped with the pandemic.

Big Bear Plastic Products Ltd was initially hit by the crisis because its core customer-base was leisure and construction vehicle manufacturers which shut down throughout the spring and summer.

The firm, which employs around 80 people, turned its attention to other customers, including supplying the NHS and other specialised services with essential products to support the Covid response effort.

Welcoming Mr Huddleston to the factory were owner Gerald Bloom, Owner and managing director Emma Hockley.

Ms Hockley said: “We were so pleased Mr Huddleston accepted our invitation to visit.

“Our team have worked tirelessly throughout the pandemic and its really nice to be acknowledged in this way.

“Now, more than ever, we need our Government to get behind British manufacturers.”

Mr Huddleston, who was given a tour of the factory, said it was good to hear how it had coped with a difficult period for manufacturing.

“It is clear with its investment into lightweight materials and other exciting new projects, Big Bear is ambitious and pioneering which exemplifies what we want to see from SMEs in this country.”
