DROITWICH residents will be able to listen to an update report on the progress of the town’s neighbourhood development plan (NDP) at Monday’s Droitwich Spa Town Council meeting.
The report will be delivered by town council leader Coun Bob Brookes, the dedicated member with responsibility for the project.
The meeting will get under way at 6pm at St Richard’s House, with the NDP report item 13 on the agenda.
The plan will allow the people of Droitwich to influence planning and development in the town.
The project’s vision target period is until 2041 which lines up with the South Worcestershire Development Plan (SWDP).
The document will set out planning policies on important local issues such as town centre regeneration, and it will encourage and identify other community-led projects.
Once adopted, the plan gives Droitwich ‘legal teeth’ when applications are being decided by Wychavon District Council.
However, the plan must be in line with other planning policies, such as the SWDP.
The NDP process was launched in March and will take between two and three years.
There will be several consultations throughout the process for Droitwich residents to have their say on the proposed plan.
The final step will be a town referendum with a 50 per cent threshold needed to pass the plan.
The entire full council meeting will be live-streamed on YouTube for the first time on Monday.
