'Neighbourly' Old Cock Inn raises £610 for Norbury's roof fund

THE LICENCEES of Droitwich’s Old Cock Inn proved everybody needs good neighbours last night when they handed over a cheque for £610 to the Nortbury Theatre for its Raise the Roof appeal.

The cash was raised by Nick and Claire Fellows and the pub’s customers through a number of raffles, quizzes and other events.

Nick said: “Since we took over the pub we’ve had a great rapport with the Norbury and wanted to do something for the appeal.”

Representatives from the Norbury Theatre, including chairman Anne Lane and Beth Smith who is playing Eliza Doolittle in My Fair Lady, went down to collect the cash.

Anne said: “I think it’s absolutely fantastic – the money will go a long way.

“The one roof is done now and so we’re raising funds so we can have the second one replaced.

“We’re really delighted with the way the community has supported us and it’s fantastic our friends from across the road have raised such a great amount.”

My Fair Lady runs from Thursday to Saturday, June 20 to 22, and from the following Thursday to Saturday, June 27 to 29.

Performances are at 7.30pm each night with matinees at 2.30pm on the Saturdays.

Tickets are £15 (£13 concessions), available by visiting norburytheatre.co.uk or by calling 01905 770154,
