New drama club for young people to be launched in Lickey

Droitwich Editorial 3rd Jan, 2020 Updated: 10th Jan, 2020   0

A NEW drama club will begin in Lickey on Friday, January 10.

The club – run by local theatre company the Jigsaw Players – will be held from 6pm to 7pm every Friday at The Trinity Centre, Old Birmingham Road, for six to 11-year-olds. It will provide an opportunity for children to express themselves creatively while developing communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.

Prior to that – between 5pm and 6pm, there will be a session for people aged from six to 25 of all abilities, including those with special needs and disabilities.

Friends and carers are also invited to go along for an hour of fun and activities.

Between 7pm and 9pm there are also sessions for 12 to 25-year-olds. They give participants the chance to develop confidence, teamwork, and communication skills through activities such as script reading and improvisation.

Jigsaw Players Theatre Company – led by their professional director Maggie Bishton – staged its sell-out The Snow Queen pantomime last month.

Registration for the new sessions takes place at The Trinity Centre next Friday.

Call Su Fletcher on 07772 645722 or email her at [email protected] for more information.

Plans are also afoot for a summer workshop centred on ‘Songs from the Shows’ for children and young people aged between seven and 25.

It will run at The Trinity Centre from July 27 to August 7, when the final performance will be staged.

Again, contact Su for more information.
