A MULTI-MILLION pound luxury care home in Fernhill Heath has opened its doors to the public for a special sneak preview.

Fernhill House, due to open in the spring, will accommodate 36 people living with dementia and 30 frail elderly people with the ethos of helping people over 65 to live an active, fulfilled life.

The £8million development offers large bedrooms, a bar bistro, tearoom, shop, cinema, private dining room, library and a secure sensory garden for the residents with dementia.

Set in two acres of woodland, Fernhill House aims to be different from other homes in the UK, offering a host of daily activities including gym sessions, arts and crafts, gardening as well as choir therapy and tea dances.

Opening its doors to the public, visitors will have the chance to have a sneak peak and to meet the team.

Fernhill House manager Peta Mandleberg, a registered nurse who has worked in the care sector for many years said: “We aim to help our residents enjoy happy fulfilled lives enjoying long established hobbies, discovering new ones and being part of a vibrant community.”
