New pilgrimage walk to throw Droitwich back to the middle ages

Droitwich Editorial 2nd Mar, 2023   0

A NEW Pilgrimage Walk has been launched by the Heritage Centre to step back in time to the Middle Ages.

The Pilgrim pathway runs from the town to Pill near Bristol and then, for the really adventurous, to Santaigo de Compostela in Spain.

The UK section is divided into 14 manageable sections, forming up to 125 miles in total.

There is a detailed book with clear instructions and fascinating details of each section available from the Heritage Centre.

And there is a Pilgrim Record available which people can get stamped as they complete each stage of their journey.

The first stamp is at the Heritage Centre where the walk starts.

Catherine Finn, joint Heritage manager, said: “Why not pop into the centre to get your record and try the walk from Droitwich to Worcester or complete the whole route, following in the footsteps of many Medieval Pilgrims.”

Certificates to commemorate the achievement are available from the Confraternity of Saint James.
