New Vehicle Activated Sign agreed for busy Droitwich road to curb speeding drivers

Droitwich Editorial 8th Nov, 2022   0

A BUSY road in Droitwich is set to get a new Vehicle Activated Sign (VAS) in a bid to curb the antics of speeding drivers.

The latest one, which will be solar powered, will be installed on Celvestune Way / Bower Hill after Droitwich Town Council agreed to provide half of the funding.

The VAS will cost £2,090 and will also be funded by the West Mercia Office of the Police And Crime Commissioner (OPCC) with each party providing £1,045.

Other Vehicle Activated Signs, such as the previous one installed in Salwarpe Road, are proving successful at slowing motorists down.

The previous one was funded by the OPCC but the organisation could only provide 50 per cent of the cost because of limited funding and a high number of applications across the county.

Droitwich Town Council’s Planning Committee Chair Coun Bob Brookes praised the new signs for ‘thanking’ drivers who abided by the speed limit, as well as alerting those going too fast.
