A NEW SCHEME to help more people find a home has been launched by Wychavon District Council’s housing team.
Droitwich residents will soon be able to make the most of Wych Move, a new social lettings agency service designed to help those in need of rehousing and struggling to rent privately.
It comes after the National Housing Federation announced the cost of renting privately had soared with Wychavon being the most expensive place to rent in Worcestershire – the average cost to rent a home is now at £730 a month.
Coun Richard Morris, responsible for economic growth and housing , said Wych Move was another example of how the council was doing all it could to deal with the affordable housing shortages in the district.
He added they wanted to show they were on top of the 670 affordable homes built since April 2012 and the 234 long-term empty homes which had been brought back into use.
“Wych Move will allow our housing team to use all of their experience and background knowledge to ensure we get the right people, in the right property at the right time and create tenancies which are affordable and sustainable long-term,” Coun Morris said.
