THE NORBURY players will be kicking off the new year by walking with you once upon a dream in their production of ‘Sleeping Beauty.’
The classic tale, which has been adapted into a pantomime by ‘Players’ member Fiona Andrews, will be running at the Norbury Theatre between Friday, January 12 and Saturday, January 27.
Sleeping Beauty follows the story of a King and Queen blessed with a baby girl cared for by Nanny Biscuit, the pantomime Dame.
But at her Christening, an evil fairy makes a wish that on the princess’s 16th birthday, she will prick her finger on the spindle of a spinning wheel and die.
However, a good fairy changes it to say the princess will fall into a deep sleep which can only be broken by true love’s kiss.
Nanny makes it her mission to keep Beauty safe, and the panto follows Beauty’s journey towards her 16th birthday along with Nanny’s nephew Jack and her friend Molly, a castle maid.
