THE TALBOT pub in Droitwich has been named Pub of the Season by the Redditch and Bromsgrove branch of CAMRA (Campaign for Real Ale).
The pub was acquired and reopened in 2016 by Stourbridge-based Craddocks Brewery which has invested in the venue and transformed it from a sports bar to a warm, cosy pub.
CAMRA said the change had brought back the character of this old coaching house.
Andy Digger, the licensee of the Talbot said “I am really proud to receive this award, it’s a great reward for all the hard work that my team and I have put in over the past year.”
Gez Quinn, chairman of Redditch and Bromsgrove CAMRA said the award was well-deserved.
“It is great to see more real ale being brought to the town, especially in such a lovely building – the investment and work that has been put into transforming his pub has been well worth it.
“We look forward to seeing Andy and his team taking the pub on from strength to strength.”
The owner of Craddock’s Brewery, David Craddock congratulated Andy and his team for achieving the ‘well earned award’.
The Talbot has become locally known, not only for usually boasting eight real ales but also pie and mash.
It also has a Craddocks loyalty card for the regular drinker to enjoy their eighth pint free.
Regulars have also been promised further enhancements to the interior and gardens over the coming year.
